Life's a Blur
Black and White Silver Print
This picture was taken in hope that it would emphasis to the norm that life's finer details are expressed through time. To slow down is to see, where as shown in this picture, to speed up is to miss. People rush throughout life seemingly with purpose. They feel that in order to get things done they need to rush. On top of that, once they rush and finish their task, what do you think they do next? They pick up another task to start. People take no time to admire the work they have done, or even others have done. This picture was taken in a Starbucks in Uptown. I told the workers what I was trying to express and they first shunned the idea. I bargained with them for a minute or so and then they let me precede ignoring store policies. This is another example or where slowing down helps in society. The workers in the heat of the moment just said no because it was easier, but when time took its course, they realized that I was harmless and in turn were of help to my photo.
The blur is a main element in this picture combined with the wide view. Slowing down the shutter, and bracketing contributed to the blur. The blur in turn contributed to the whole by adding the element of speed and movement to my picture. As you can see, a coffee shop I think is the perfect example of rushing. People come in and are in a huge hurry for their caffeine. It is early, and people are groggy. They place their order, pay and leave, most people no even able to say a simple thank you. This is why I chose this picture.
