Life
Black and White Silver Print

While I was creating this object, I noticed that the reflection really plays a huge part in the picture. The life preserver and the reflection really flow nicely. My intention or what I want to communicate is the same thing as what I noticed. Life is all around whether you notice it or not. The process I used was just a black and white silver print at F11 for 10 seconds. There were no additional filters used. My manner of working was just finding an interesting object that has an apparent theme to it. I did it when it was cloudy, and it turned out to work out well because it reflected the clouds off of the window and showed the signs of life that are everywhere. The design concept is really how the life preserver is protected behind the glass, and the glass also works as a reflector and makes a solid theme. That is the context also. The greater global worldview is life, and there are things in the photograph that reflect that. In this image, there is a life preserver in a restaurant window in Uptown, Minnesota.
