Razzle Dazzle
Black and White Silver Print

The technique behind this photograph intrigued me because of its dream like qualities. The Sabattier technique flashes light on the photograph while it is still developing. This is what creates the milky lines that divide the dark and light values in the print. Razzle Dazzle is an image of my Tobiano Paint mare's shoulder. I thought that the strong contrast between her black and white markings along with the striped saddle pad would create an interesting effect when I "double exposed" the paper. The photograph makes one stop and really think about what it actually is. I love the reaction, "what is that?" I feel that I have captured that with Razzle Dazzle. It has a unique perspective and technique that allows one to explore a variety of possibilities.
