Left in the Light
Black and White Silver Print
Left in the Light was taken at Pine Meadow Farm around 9:00 in the evening. I had just started a fresh roll of film, but there was no one there to take pictures of. As I looked around the lounge for possible pictures I saw what is now Left in the Light. This photograph had a unique mood to it. The rest of my pictures consisted of movement and excitement. This one photograph stood out because it made a statement with its stillness. I wanted it to give the viewer a sense of silence and contemplation. Left in the Light was taken to provide a sense of wonder. I tried to express my feeling of wondering when I would actually get to leave the barn. However, it also was meant to show the impatience and pointlessness of wondering. The photograph is dark to express disgust with just wondering. I took this photograph to mark a point in my life where I am no longer left in wonder; rather I am exploring and creating opportunities for myself. All in all, it is representation of independence and self-motivation.
