Minnesota Summer
Black and White Silver Print
I was trying to show the irony of a summer lawn chair covered in snow. I did this by using rule of thirds. You see it in the banister across the top third and the chair is also on a third line. The positive space is supposed to magnify the emptiness of the scene. Since the dark area is little it makes the image have a depressing field. It comes from the idea of cabin fever. That is so frequently seen in Minnesota during this time of the year. This was more of a spontaneous photograph. It is what I saw outside my friend's window and it fit for one of my ideas. I used a number two contrast filter to make it lighter, which again enhanced the feeling of emptiness.
