Saw My Youth
Ink on Index Paper

The idea behind our self-portraits was to pick a color to print with that represents part of our personality or our character. I picked purple because it's a quiet and non-abrasive color. I tend to think of myself as pretty shy and quiet, so I guess that purple is a color that expresses that. The process was something that I'd never really done before, working with layers, doing the black and then the purple second, letting us learn about blocking out space by using rubylith. This was a great learning experience because it taught us many of the common techniques used in creating successful prints, as well as letting us learn in a very hands on approach. This was a great project and a great step into printmaking.
