Streetlight
Black and White Silver Print
I took this picture for an assignment to take pictures in uptown, shooting from the waist. This streetlight really stood out to me as we walked by it, for the stickers and graffiti that had been put on it. I shot this picture normally, not from the waist, to ensure that I captured the image that I wanted, including the light pole in the background, parallel to the streetlight. However, even though I shot it normally, I did not have the time to properly aim the camera, so the shot came out crooked. I see many examples of line in this photo, including the post itself, the light in the background, and the building. The edges of the sign and the street sign on the light in the background show a secondary diagonal, perpendicular to the first. The negative for this photo had extremely high const, so I had to decrease it a lot when making my final print, and I found that it was almost impossible to get definition in both the sky and the sign, so I tried to focus on the sign and the stickers on it, into the foreground of the image.
