Crossroads
Ink on Paper

For this print we used rubylith to block out part of our screen when we hardened the emulsion. The goal for this was to balance the positive and negative aspects when we were peeling away parts of the rubylith. I chose to make an abstract design where I created intersecting lines, and then pulled off slightly random pieces. I say slightly random, because while I was puling them off I was thinking about what I was doing so as to balance the positive and negative aspects, but at the same time the pieces I was pulling off had no specific pattern to them. Because I had an intention but was not sticking strictly to my intention it gave the print a randomness with many different shapes. The hardest part when using the rubylith was pulling away the right part. Because the piece we were dealing with was so small, I accidentally pulled the wrong piece off several times.
