Light and Death
Black and White Silver Print

This picture was taken with my photography class at the Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota. When taking this picture I was looking for things people would not normally look for in a cemetery. I found this picture interesting because there was a pile of dirt by a tombstone that was over 50 years old. I wanted people to understand that even though cemeteries are sad, you can find happiness from the way you look at things. I used 400ASA Kodak film and my camera. To develop this picture I used f-stop 11, the contrast filter 3 at 15 seconds. I saw a lot of different contrast in grays in this picture and around it. This picture relates to its surroundings because it is found in a cemetery with other tombstones. It relates to the world as a whole because death occurs on a daily basis and you cannot hide that from anyone.
