Shoddy Shoe Shine
Shoe Dye Mixed with Retarder on Paper
This print, fully inspired by Ed Ruscha and his use of alternative inks, was made as a statement of my own imperfection. For most people today nice shoes show professionalism and represent class and wealth, thus many people try to wear nice shoes and make sure they are kept well in order to show how clean and classy they are. Unfortunately most of my shoes are kept in disrepair and have holes in the sides of them, the sole warn down, and all the parts cut up and covered in mud, dirt, and grass stains. I don't keep my shoes well mostly because I am active, and because finding shoes for my feet is impressive enough, especially because I wear size 16 shoes. The graphic is my shoe print, copied and put as two different show prints, accept one is put up like it is being shined at one of the shoe shining stations you see at the airport. Overall this print is just a statement of my own imperfections, plain and simple.
