Undertones
Black & White Silver Print

This is a Sabattier Print of my friend Jess’s face from the Metradome Shots. I decided to use a face for my Sabattier print because I thought the tonal reversal would have a dramatic and interesting effect upon a person’s features. To me this print gave Jess’s face an even more lifelike appearance than the original photo had. The tonal reversal in her cheeks, along her nose and on her forehead make I seem like she is either flushed, or suntanned. Her face stands out against the dull background and seems to exude the excitement that filled the air when the photo was taken. I named the photo Undertones because it has tones in it that were not in the original print, yet that show the mood that was present when the photo was taken.
