Up Close and Personal
Black and White Silver Print
"I'm doing a photo project for my school, would you mind being my model?"
This project is entitled "Up Close and Personal" and the pictures taken really emphasize this idea. A shot of only the person's face is quite personal. The camera between your face and theirs cuts off all human contact and leaves only the interaction of machine and subject. From this project I discovered the importance of light source. I shot into backlighting of a Caribou Coffee shop, which caused a very large gray range of tonal values while almost eliminating darkest darks. Through developing I discovered using a filter only created a dusty granulated feeling but I was able to create enough contrast to give personality to the picture.
