The Inconvenient Truth Part I
Black & White Silver Print

The picture was taken outside of our junior lounge, in the background are the windows of the administrative offices which are out of focus. This picture is symbolic of the students’ quiet rebellion that is overpowered by the administration at this school. As upperclassmen we would like to think that we are rebellious and no longer bow to authority, but in reality the administration at this school has instilled a heightened sense of fear in all of us. We have been taught to do exactly what we are told and a sense of inferiority has been instilled in all of us, no matter how much we would like to deny it. I exposed the photograph first at Fx11 @ 7 seconds. The result emphasized the point that I was trying to convey by putting focus on the outside of the junior lounge but emphasizing the growing vines that are conquering the uniform brick walls with their creeping limbs. In the background the administrative offices are overseeing all of this take place and somehow, look content. The contrasting greys really emphasize the lock that we, as students, are under. I especially like how the grey makes it look like something out of The Omen, the original one.
