Retirement
Alternative Stencil Ink on Paper
The purpose of this print was to use a set of alternative stencils. That is, things that aren't typically used as stencils for a print. My idea for my stencils came as I saw some old golfing gloves in my garage, and decided to use golfing accessories as my stencils. I first placed the stencils under a screen and print with the stencils in the screen. Then I made a second print by just printing out the ink that was left in the screen. Finally, I brought the two together and added the stencils back to the prints by gluing them back onto the paper. My intent was to show how ordinary materials could be used as stencils to form a print. He significance of the green and blue ink represents the green grass of the golf course combined with blue skies on a nice day, the perfect conditions for golfing, as well as the title representing what retirement means to me.
