Pollution
Black and White Silver Print

When first assigned the infrared film assignment, I immediately wanted to procrastinate taking the pictures until after we had snow on the ground, hoping to find larger contrasts between heat and extreme cold brought on by the snow. This shot was one of my infrared roll and shows the garbage burning plant-releasing smoke into the air. The hot smoke creates a very light color in the sky, which is a strong contrast with the dark color of the sky. To take this picture, I waited till there was a break in traffic, and actually stopped in the road, and took the picture from my car. I did this because I liked that particular angle on the garbage burning plant, and the dark road creates a good contrast with the light smoke and snow.
