Paper Stencil
This print was made mainly for experimenting with a new medium that was introduced to us. This was made so we could see and work with techniques that we are going to be using on all year round. It was a test round in a way, it was to be taken seriously but it was a introductory activity. My intension was to produce and even, visually appeasing print that showed my craftsmanship. First we had to learn about positive and negative space. We ripped paper and placed it on a silk screen, after cleaning it of course. Using the color that we mixed prior to setting up our station we pulled the paint over the stenciled shapes leaving a white spot where the stencil was. Clean the screen and repeat with a different dominate spacing, as well as a different color. The final print was the hardest, because we had to line up the past prints and leave NO white space. Pulling the ink across the screen was my favorite aspect of the project, I though that it was an interesting process. In this print there were geometric shapes, and organic shapes, there wasn't an identifiable object, just what I thought would fit in with the print. I think that they compliment each other very well, though not in a straightforward way. Over all I think that this print turned out very well, considering that my partner was almost never present.
