Blake’s performing arts program centers on stimulating and developing students' creativity and imagination in a safe and supportive environment. Exposure to theatre and its many facets begins in pre-kindergarten and continues through a student’s senior year with options to explore acting, singing, directing, writing, design, production and more. In fifth grade, students home their performance techniques to present an all-class, fully integrated staged musical play.
Areas of study at Blake can include improvisation, theatre history, playwriting, acting techniques and scene study. Those interested in technical theatre may work with professional guest designers and on-staff technical theatre director to gain experience in lighting, sound and set construction. To learn more about the many offerings and specific theatre curriculum at Blake, please review the Middle and Upper School course catalogues.
