Since graduating from Blake, Bill Sternberg has been actively supporting the School, both financially and as a volunteer. Bill epitomizes the definition of a "Blake Booster." He served as a class representative for 20 years and on the Alumni Board from 1994 through 2000. He has attended countless Breakfasts at Blake, alumni holiday parties and Homecoming and Reunion events such as the Greater Blake Open and last year's Walk/Run/Ride.

When asked what his most memorable post-graduation contributions to the School have been, Bill offers two shining moments: co-chairing the 1994–95 Annual Fund, which resulted in the Annual Fund raising over $1 million for the first time, and working with classmates to develop, fundraise and sustain the Class of 1981 Minority Scholarship Fund. Most satisfying to Bill, however, has been his involvement with the School's LearningWorks program, where he serves on the advisory board. Bill says about LearningWorks, "I enjoy seeing Blake acknowledge its role in the broader community by bringing together middle school students from Minneapolis Public Schools who have a passion for learning with high school and college students engaged in the art of teaching." The Jenny Stephens Hagen Spirit Award is named after Bill's classmate. "To be associated with Jenny in this way, with a woman who exhibits such energy and passion for what she stands for, is very humbling and meaningful." Congratulations to our 2010 Spirit Award recipient, Bill Sternberg, for his commitment to Blake and for strengthening both our school and our broader, surrounding community.
