Jenny Stephens Hagen Spirit Award
Woody Kingman ’78
The Jenny Stephens Hagen Spirit Award honors an alum who has shown commitment to the School community in a variety of ways and Woody Kingman fits the mold perfectly.
Kingman’s personal associations with Blake run deep. He comes from a family of Blake and Northrop graduates including his wife, Elise Hanser Kingman ’83, his mother and father and many siblings, cousins, nephews and nieces. In addition to his family connections, Kingman maintains business and personal associations with many Blake graduates, including his long-standing weekly breakfast group composed of several of his ’78 classmates.
Perhaps this group inspired Kingman to establish the highly successful Breakfast at Blake, a program through which alumni and parents can meet and mingle over breakfast while hearing from an interesting speaker each month. The program has helped strengthen alumni connections in the Blake community for more than two years.
Kingman has also served tirelessly on Blake’s Alumni Association for the last six years and worked the entirety of his tenure on the events subcommittee. Kingman’s efforts and commitment have made Blake a stronger community and merit his receipt of this year’s Jenny Stephens Hagen Spirit Award.
