Department Awards

Creative Arts Awards
The Creative Arts Awards first appeared at the 1968 Blake School commencement. They are presented to a senior who has performed an important role in his/her respective program. Awards are given in choral music, drama, instrumental music and visual arts.

John Phillip Sousa Award
The John Philip Sousa Award is named for the legendary American composer and bandmaster. It was first presented at The Blake School in 1998 to honor a band student for all around musical excellence and dedication to the band program.

Louis Armstrong Award
The Louis Armstrong Award is named for the legendary American jazz musician. It was first presented at The Blake School in 1998 to honor a band student for musical excellence and accomplishment in jazz performance.

Thespian Award
The Thespian Award was a post-merger addition to the Creative Arts awards. It recognizes a senior who has participated actively in the drama program and has shown exemplary commitment and passion in the dramatic arts.
