Blake Community Awards
Chub Bettels Scholar
The Chub Bettels Scholar is selected on the basis of strength of character, integrity, academic record and athletic performance. Established in 1992, the award was created by Blake alumni, family and friends, in keeping with the wishes of longtime Blake teacher and coach Chub Bettels. The recipient is determined through an interview process with the Bettels Scholarship Committee.
Commitment to Diversity Award
The Commitment to Diversity Award honors an Upper School student, grade 9-11, who has demonstrated leadership in support of diversity at The Blake School. Students for consideration are nominated by the student body and the recipient is selected by the faculty.
John C. Savage Award
The John C. Savage Community Service Award was presented for the first time in 1981. It honors John C. Savage '27, Blake teacher from 1934 to 1942, and former Blake parent of John Savage Jr. '68. The award was established upon his death in 1980.
