Hello Pre-K families, friends, relatives, and other interested folks.

Welcome to a new year of our classroom web site. The days we spend together in Pre-K are so rich, so full of life, so much learning, so much discovery, so much fun. Our hope is that we can use these pages to share with you some of the vibrancy of that life. To bring our learning outside the walls of our classroom, and make it visible for you and perhaps give you a glimpse into the magic that Ms. Small and I are privileged to be witness to each day.

It is a great life we lead here in Pre-K with these youngest of Blake's enthusiastic learners. We're delighted to share some of it here with you.

  • Other Good Stuff

    It seemed another good use for this site might be to share with you the thoughts of other educators, writers and thinkers we've come across in our own learning about early childhood and what best practice looks like with young learners.

    We've included our school's early childhood philosophy statement, a note from the chair of our science department about what science looks like with young children, and some great articles on learning through play.

    As the articles and essays in this section are a place to foster thought and conversation, our hope is to continue to add to this part of our class page as the year and our own learning together continue.

Story Workshop: Finding Stories in Our Play

This year we have used a protocol called, "Story Workshop" with the basic tenet being one of helping the children find and create their own stories out of their play.

This album highlights some of the children in the act of story creation.
