Science Assignments... April 7 - 11, 2008


MONDAY- TUESDAY: Be ready for Data Day Wednesday.
1. Be sure you have completed (and had your teacher's' approval on) the planning pages for Data Day. Check off what you have done on p.2
checklist.
2. Make arrangements for getting all supplies here on Wednesday. Mark all items, bags, etc. with names.
3. Think of any other details you mentioned in your plan that may need your attention.
4. Have you invited your parents? They are welcome 12:30 until 3:00 when we clean up and go to homeroom.
5. Remember that clean-up after Data Day includes: sponge table; remove tape from table and floor; pick up litter on, under and around table; put poster on counter in class; take materials home if not needed. Check out with a science teacher. Then go to homeroom.

WEDNESDAY: To get ahead, you COULD work on statistics: adding up totals, making averages, etc.

THURSDAY - FRIDAY: Work on "statistics" section: adding up totals, making averages or percents, etc. and the first two sheets which follow the data pages in your logbooks. We will be graphing next week in computer lab.

Bonus suggestions:
1. Go outdoors and do some nature journaling: write and draw with detail about signs of spring you see, hear and notice with other senses. Are birds coming back yet? Be specific about what you notice with your eyes, ears, sense of touch and smell!
2. Make a poster about scientific methods we are using in Data Day: asking questions, planning an experiment, gathering data, analyzing the results, making a conclusion and sharing the results.
3. Science in the news: Find an article on some science topic in a newspaper or magazine. Write a summary of it and attach to the article.
