This is going to be a great year...I really mean it! It is my hope that with class work, projects and the ability to laugh and have fun, you will enjoy this year as much as I have my past 29 years (boy am I old!!). Hey...do the math....this is my 30th year of teaching!!!
The guidelines for this class are very simple. Please abide by them!
- You must be on time for class each day.
- You must have all your materials with you, I will not let you go to your locker once class has started.
- Materials:
- spiral notebook used ONLY for math
- something to write with (I prefer pencil or 4-colored pen)
- highlighter
- textbook
- Label AND highlight all assignments with assignment number, page and problems.
- Never tear an assignment out. Most of the time we will grade them depending upon how much is completed. (10 to 0). On review days we will grade for accuracy, as well.
- I do not check homework every day, so be prepared, ALWAYS!!
- On test days, turn your notebook into me with ALL your homework assignments completed and corrected. (Again this will be a score of a 10 to 0). If you have a homework assignment missing or incomplete, you will still have to do it, but will not receive any credit!
- On the last day of the chapter, I am going to have you write a short paragraph on why you really feel we have covered the information and where you will use it. What I want you to find out is that there is more to math than a grade or memorizing facts, I want you to really embody the subject. This writing activity should be done on ONE sheet of paper and turned in with your test. YES!, it will be evaluated on your personal thoughts and efforts
- Your overall grade will be determined as follows: 10% homework, 10% notebook, 80% tests and projects.
It is going to be a great year to play and learn!
