Bump (also called forearm pass)
Important skills to perform bump properly
- Bend knees
- Hyper extended arms (straight elbows)
- Arms away from body
- Hit ball on forearms
- Power comes from the legs
Underhand Serve
Important skills to perform underhand serve properly
- Make flat fist (fingers flat against palm)
- Bring arm straight back
- Follow through straight towards target
- Bend at waist
- Step with opposite leg
Set
Important skills to perform set properly
- Elbows out and bent
- Use finger tips
- Bend knees
- Follow through with hands and arms
- Use legs and arms (straighten out) when making contact
Spike and over hand serve
Important skills to perform spike properly
- Cup hand
- Rotate elbow and shoulder back
- Extend arm when making contact
- Follow through
- Snap hand /wrist when hitting ball
General Rules
- Maximum of 3 hits per side
- 6 players on a side
- May not touch net with body during play
- Player may not hit ball twice in succession
- A blocked ball at the net is not considered a hit (does not count as one of the three hits a team is allowed)
- The ball may be played out of the net
- If the ball hits the sideline or end line, it is considered in bounds
Scoring
Traditional scoring
- Play games to 15 (must win by 2)
- Points are only scored when the serving team wins the play
Rally Scoring
- A point is scored each time the ball is put into play
- Play games to 30 points (must win by 2)
