Ms. Baete
¡Bienvenidos! Welcome to 7th Grade Spanish!

Here are the themes we are going to study this year:

La Familia y la Fiesta (families and parties)
La Casa (house)
De Compras (shopping)
Vacaciones y Comunidades (vacations and communities)

Focusing on these themes, this is what I expect you to be able to tell someone about (speaking and writing) at the end of the year:

  • Your family (names, ages, descriptions, celebrations with family)
  • Where you live (describe home and any household chores you have to do)
  • The clothing you wear (description, where you bought it, how much you paid, buying gifts for people)
  • Your vacation plans (weather, packing lists, what you did while on vacation)
  • Your community (places and things to do, transportation, what you did there recently, how to help in the community)
You should also be able to understand (using listening and reading skills) when someone else is telling you about these topics.

What else should you know?

  • Classroom presentations will be done mostly "en español".
  • In addition, the class is conducted primarily "en español"; you are expected to understand and try to respond to your teacher "en español" also.
  • Each unit also has important cultural and cross-cultural understanding expectations.
  • At the end of the year, all 7th grade Spanish students will take a placement exam to determine readiness for 8th grade Spanish.
